WAUKESHA 鈥 The woman shot and killed allegedly by her grandson on Sunday evening has been identified as Nancy Lovejoy, 74. The suspect鈥檚 name hasn鈥檛 been released as he is still hospitalized but charges are expected soon.
The incident unfolded Sunday evening when a man told authorities he shot and killed his grandmother and threatened to harm himself, according to the SM天地论坛 Police Department.
Multiple calls were made for reported gunshots heard at a residence in the 200 block of Douglass Avenue at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday night. Dispatch had telephone contact with a man who admitted he had allegedly shot and killed Lovejoy and also threatened to harm himself, a news release said.
SM天地论坛 County Sheriff鈥檚 Department armored car and personnel, along with members of the City of SM天地论坛 Police Department鈥檚 Deployable Technology Unit, Tactical Unit, K9 and armored vehicles were used.
Through the use of drone technology, Lovejoy was discovered deceased. De-escalation was attempted by negotiating with the suspect, but on multiple occasions, the subject would walk to the front door, but refused to exit, the release said.
After multiple unsuccessful attempts, the SM天地论坛 Police Tactical Unit deployed chemical munitions into the home in an attempt to force the suspect to exit the residence. A K9 was deployed and assisted with apprehending the suspect, release said.
