WAUKESHA — A SMÌìµØÂÛ̳ man who had sex with a girlfriend in the lobby of the SMÌìµØÂÛ̳ County Jail on May 2 has been sentenced to 60 days in jail, amounting to time already served.

Desmound Cleveland, 29, and Karen Hill, 67, were charged with disorderly conduct after the incident.

Online court records indicate Cleveland pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to 60 days in the county jail, and given the same amount of days as credit, meaning he is considered to already have served his sentence.

Hill was due in court for a hearing Monday but arrived late, after her attorney had left. A warrant for her arrest due to non-appearance was canceled; a new date is to be scheduled in her case.

They were charged after a jail supervisor called to report two people had sex in the jail lobby and the woman, later identified as Hill, was still on the scene, a criminal complaint said.

Video surveillance around 3 a.m. showed two people allegedly engaged in sexual acts. The video allegedly showed Cleveland and Hill in the northwest corner of the public lobby of the jail creating a bed by taking a floor mat from one side of the room and placing it in a corner where they planned on sleeping, the complaint said. Cleveland put his jacket over them to use as a blanket and later the two were captured on surveillance committing sexual acts. The complaint said no one else was in the lobby until after the incident.

Hill was questioned by a deputy. She said her boyfriend of five years, Cleveland, came over to hang out with her at a boarding house. They both went outside to have a cigarette and were locked out. Hill was told she wasn't allowed to have guests, the complaint said. Hill said the police department was called and she was allowed to grab her and Cleveland's belongings. At that time, they walked to the jail lobby and took a nap. She admitted to having sex and it was consensual, the complaint said.

Hill said she tried to cover them both up with articles of clothing so no one would see them.

The deputy made contact with Cleveland who also was still in the lobby as well. He was asked about the incident to which he replied, "Sex happens" and admitted he knew there were cameras, the complaint said.

As part of the plea agreement, Cleveland saw a case of possessing THC (marijuana) and disorderly conduct and bail jumping dismissed but read into the record. He also pleaded guilty to a count of bail jumping in a separate case.
