WAUKESHA 鈥 A dedication of the new Hope Center facility, 101 West Broadway, will be held at 6 p.m. on June 6. An open house will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The new Hope Center is located just over the railroad tracks from its former location on East Avenue.

For 50 years, Hope Center has worked in SM天地论坛 to "help reduce the risks of poverty and provide hope by giving people basic needs such as food, shelter, clothing and basic household furnishings, through direct services, partnerships and community collaboration," a press release said.

In a typical year, the Hope Center serves over 12,000 hot meals and gives away more than 90,000 articles of clothing. In order to better serve the community, the center remodeled a former bank building, and moved in January, without missing a meal or a day of shelter.

"Special thanks to all who have helped us raise close to $1 million toward our building renovations. Fundraising continues as we strive to raise the total renovation cost, which exceeds $2.5 million," the center said in a release.

The former Chase Bank building first opened as a bank in 1974 and dealt in the financial business for decades before ultimately closing around the time of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The new Hope Center offers many amenities. The main level includes an expanded, up-to-date kitchen outfitted with modern appliances, along with a main dining area and a smaller, separate space for families. These areas also constitute the daytime shelter, which is open seven days a week during the colder months and five days a week during the warmer ones.

Beyond the main level, guests also have services to access on the bottom floor. The basement is where the clothing shop is located, along with showers and laundry facilities.

Next to the shop are the laundry facilities and the showers. The bottom floor also features two private bathrooms with a check-in counter to grab a towel. The top floor features the Hope Center鈥檚 reception and support services.

Outside, the Hope Center constructed a brand new 2,500-square-foot garage for Project Move, which will become the new shipping and receiving center for furniture, appliances, bedding, and other household items that the organization delivers to guests who recently acquired housing.

The Hope Center has also added an outdoor gathering space for guests.
